on all four hem strips
SCALLOP EDGES CLEAN FINISHED

The appropriate clean finish turn under for this Madeira technique is no more than 1/4".

Clean hem finish the scallop edges using this successful technique.

Using water soluble thread in the bobbin,
align 2 layers of hem strips right sides together,
and stitch along the scallop marking lines.
Trim the seam allowance to 1/4" clip, turn,

The steam melts the bobbin thread away so you can carefully separate the strips.
Now you have the 1/4" hem pressed in place on both strips.
Repeat for the other two hem strips.
HEM EMBELLISHMENT

Use the built in flowers from the Ellagéo Shadow embroidered butterflies disk using Nancy Zieman "Memories of Home"

Repeat this for all four corners Trim seam allowance to 1/4" and press the seam allowances open.

Now you have the hem strips in the form of a picture frame. 45" X 45"

HEMSTITCH

Hemstitch along the entire scallop edge of the hem using size 100 wing needle. Adjust the hemstitch to SW 2-1/2 SL 4
